Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to get started?

A crypto wallet! We'd recommend https://metamask.io, as it is one of the strengths of playing on the Polygon chain. "Crypto wallets keep your private keys – the passwords that give you access to your cryptocurrencies – safe and accessible, allowing you to send and receive cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum. They come in many forms, from hardware wallets like Ledger (which looks like a USB stick) to mobile apps like Coinbase Wallet, which makes using crypto as easy as shopping with a credit card online." - From the Coinbase fam

Go to proofoftwitter.com and follow the instructions.

Proof of Twitter makes it easy to link your Ethereum address to your Twitter. Our API is a simple way for Crypto projects to integrate Twitter accounts into their dAPPs. Enjoy!

What type of file formats can be minted?

You can upload and mint in the following files formats: PNG, JPG, GLB, MP3, MP4 and GIF.

Is there a size limitation for mints?

Yes, 40MB is the limit.

I've minted my art, but it's not showing for sale. What should I do?

After you mint your artwork and the transaction is successful via Metamask, access your collection, and click on the artwork you just minted. Next, click the button "Set for Sale". Your artwork will now shows as accepting bids in the gallery.

It says, "Connect to Polygon." What does that mean?

Screensaver.World is a market place on an Ethereum Layer 2 chain called Polygon (https://polygon.technology - formerly known as Matic). In order to use Screensaver.World, you must be connected to Polygon. To connect to Polygon, track to the following link and scroll down to "Setting up MetaMask for Polygon (Matic Network)" https://docs.matic.network/docs/develop/metamask/config-matic/

Wait so is it Matic or Polygon?

It's officially Polygon. However, the currency is still Matic. If you go to purchase the currency on an exchange, the symbol will read "MATIC." If you ever seen "Matic Network" or items with "matic" in it, it is most likely related to the Polygon chain. As always, DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH!

Nice! I'm connected. I thought mints were free, but now I need matic. What gives?

Ahh yes. Minting on matic is virtually free. Currently, it costs around $.00001. However, you cannot mint with absolute zero in your matic account.

So, where do I get Matic for minting?

Another good question. You can go here: https://matic.supply/ Connect your wallet and get some matic! You'll be sent 0.0005 matic. That will be enough to mint ~50 pieces, if not more.

For more on buying matic to fund your matic adventures, the overall steps are the same, but read up on your specific exchange and wallet to learn more. Below, I'll simply detail how with MetaMask.

Only follow options 1 - 4 if you plan to buy Matic on a separate exchange. Skip to step 5 if you're planning to use your ETH to conver to Matic!

  1. Go to your exchange of choice that trades Polygon/Matic

  2. Buy said Matic from exchange (I use Coinbase)

  3. Transfer matic (or "Send" as some exchanges call it) to your eth address using your exchange (ex. 0xa3d0562Bf1714019B0A6900B22aD7662C815B1F7, found at the top of your MetaMask wallet)

  4. Verify that the matic you've sent from your exchange reaches your wallet. The length of time this step takes depends on your exchange. Some exchanges like Coinbase will not let you send currency to a wallet until your account has been verified with photo ID, which may take up to 24 hours. Again, read the details regarding your exchange and wallet.

  5. Once you're able to see matic in your wallet, head over to https://wallet.matic.network/bridge/

  6. Connect your wallet to the site.

  7. Click the "Move funds to Matic Mainnet" button (once again, Polygon/Matic are interchangeable)

  8. Use the drop down to select the currency you're bridging.

    1. If you're bridging the matic you've already purchased on an exchange, do it here

    2. If you've skipped to step 5, select Ether

  9. Select the amount you wish to bridge/convert over to the Polygon/Matic network

  10. Voila!

Got Matic. Connected to the network. I'm ready to buy but everything has a bid. Now what?

Every listing is auction based. Based on a simple smart contract, each piece begins at 0.0 matic. From there, any person connected on the platform can place a bid, that is higher than the previous bid placed.

The artist at any time throughout the bidding process can choose to accept the most up to date bid*. *Be cautious. Always remember to reload before accepting a bid to ensure the amount is the most up to date bidder. Because of cache, you may accept another person's bid even though a higher bid was made. We are looking into this in a further release.

Can I set a floor, or maximum bid price for my minted work?

Not at this time. This would require an extensive update to the smart contract.

Can I burn my work?

In V1 of Screensaver.World, launching the week of June 1, the ability to burn your token will be available.

Feature Requests

Whether it's bidding history, filtering, or notifications, we hear you. However, we have a roadmap as well. While our feature integration will be similar to the way we've been doing it since day one, our biggest hope was to encourage users to build modular code to bolster the marketplace.
